OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher's attorney wants to delay Fisher's Senate impeachment trial, set to begin September 27th.

Postponment was sought in one of a series of motions filed Thursday by defense attorney Irven Box with Mike Clingman, secretary of the Senate.

One motion seeks to suppress evidence gathered by a multicounty grand jury. Another seeks to poll senators to see if they have preconceived ideas about fisher's guilt.

Box says it's unfair for Fisher to be facing a Senate trial at the same time he's facing two criminal trials on similar charges.

Fisher faces five articles of impeachment adopted by the state House accusing him of neglect of duty, incompetency and corruption. He's also charged with five felonies in Oklahoma County.
