OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A new judge has been appointed in Muskogee County.
Governor Brad Henry Thursday named Norman D. Thygesen as an associate district judge for the 15th Judicial District. Thygesen succeeds Thomas H. Alford, who was promoted earlier to a district judgeship.
Henry says the 58-year-old Thygesen is an ideal candidate for the job. A practicing attorney in Muskogee, Thygesen has extensive experience as a prosecutor in Muskogee, Tulsa and Okmulgee counties.
Thygesen was graduated from Northeastern State University in 1971. He earned his law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1980.
Thygesen was chosen from among three candidates whose names were submitted by the Judicial Nominating Commission. Thygesen and his wife, Sheryl, have three children.
