Tulsa Police are looking for whoever’s responsible for a number of hit and runs accidents in the past week.
One of the latest cases left a teenager dead and another in critical condition. News on 6 reporter Patrina Adger "Both boys are just numb. Chad didn't do well at the funeral today, it's just devastation!" Joy Stevenson just attended the funeral of her son Bryant's best friend Aaron.
She says Bryant, his younger brother Chad and Aaron were picking up a friend at a house near Mohawk Park Friday night when the unthinkable happened. "They stopped at a house; SUV came out of nowhere and ran them down."
Witnesses say the vehicle just kept going and never stopped. Aaron was killed instantly. Bryant is recovering in the hospital from broken bones throughout his body, Chad escaped with minor injuries.
“We’re getting tips from Crimestoppers; we've got witnesses, so I feel good about this investigation." Sergeant Greg Mathews with Tulsa's Diversified Crimes Unit says with the help of good eyewitnesses he's confident they'll make an arrest in this case soon.
He says the department is overwhelmed with an unusually high number of hit and runs accidents. This year and with only two investigators handling cases, they can only investigate the cases in which someone was killed. 'We're putting alot of effort into these fatalities. They're very serious. We're taking them seriously!"
Joy prays for justice that the suspect will be caught and off the streets so they won't devastate another family. "That someone can kill someone and put someone in the hospital and leave and not think twice!"
The Crimestoppers number is 596-COPS.
