A group of Oklahomans has shipped out to help victims of Hurricane Ivan.

The Oklahoma Disaster Medical Assistance Team left Tuesday night for a staging area in Mississippi. The 35 member team is made up of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other volunteers.

They'll spend the next two to three weeks supporting local emergency officials in an area affected by Hurricane Ivan. Training officer Roger Jolliff: "Once we get there, wherever they assign us to, we expect to probably set up a field treatment and triage unit. That will consist of probably four large treatment tents with all the facilities that you would see in a hospital emergency room."

Since the group's formation in 1991, they've responded to hurricanes, tornadoes, the Oklahoma City bombing and the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
