LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ Adam Barmann threw a touchdown pass and scored on a one-yard run as Kansas opened the season with a 21-to-3 win over Tulsa.
The Jayhawks managed just 80 yards of offense and a field goal in the first half. But mistakes by the Golden Hurricane helped Kansas put the game away in the fourth quarter.
Tulsa opened the scoring on a 28-yard field goal by Brad DeVault in the first quarter. Johnny Beck's 51-yard field goal tied it 3-all at halftime.
A seven-yard touchdown pass from Barmann to Charles Gordon put Kansas up 12-to-3 late in the third quarter. The Jayhawks added two more points when Tim Allen sacked Tulsa quarterback James Kilian in the end zone.
Kevin Kane intercepted Kilian's pass minutes later, leading to Barmann's touchdown run.
