Usually motorists complain when a road "doesn't" get re-paved. But a repaving project on US Highway 169 in Tulsa has some asking a lot of questions. Like why now?

The road in question is a stretch of US Highway 169 between 71st and 91st streets. It may seem like they just built it, but it's actually been 12 years since the road was extended. The state says it was widened from four to six lanes more recently, so that may be why some think it's newer than it is.

Either way, the road's rough surface has some motorist's concerned. Motorist: "It is bad. I hope they put another layer over the top of it and that it's a lot smoother."

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says that's exactly what it’s doing. ODOT says roads that still "feel" smooth often need resurfacing because there are small cracks that can lead to serious damage.
