OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Officials say seven county workers recently hospitalized in Tillman County are victims of an attack by Africanized killer bees.

Experts at Oklahoma State University say the aggressive bees have made their way into Oklahoma. The workers were trimming trees near Tipton in southwest Oklahoma when they came under attack.

Researchers say DNA testing confirms the killer bees have finally made their way into Oklahoma.

OSU entomoligist Rick Grantham says the discovery is not a surprise to scientists. Now Grantham and other experts are warning state residents to be on the lookout.

Similar to European honey bees in appearance, Africanized bees are slightly smaller and produce less honey. But they are far more aggressive and persistent in their attacks.
