OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Murder charges were filed Tuesday against three teenagers for a drive-by shooting that killed a 9-year-old Oklahoma City boy as he slept.
First-degree murder charges were filed against Salvador Martinez, 16, Steve Lopez, 17, and Carlos Marquez, 19 for the August 11 death of David Pekah.
Martinez and Lopez were charged as youthful offenders, according to Oklahoma County District Attorney Wes Lane.
Police have said Pekah was sleeping on a couch when the three drove past the house and opened fire in what may have been a gang-related shooting.
Martinez, Lopez and Marquez also face charges of shooting with intent to kill two teenage women who were wounded by the gunfire.
The three were arrested shortly after the shooting in a car driven by Marquez that matched a description of the gunmen's car provided by witnesses to police.
Marquez told homicide detectives he was driving the car when Martinez and Lopez fired several shots at the house, according to an affidavit filed with the charges.
