A Tulsa County judge has approved the circulation of a petition calling for a grand jury to investigate the death of a Tulsa bar owner.

The petition was filed by the mother of Shawn Howard.

Howard died from head injuries he received in a fight with a homeless man on June 24th.

Prosecutors declined to file charges in the case. They say evidence supports claims it was self-defense.
