OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Overall enrollment at colleges and universities across the state is expected to increase by about 3% this year.
Over the past five years, enrollment has increased by about 20,000 students.
In a sign of an improving economy, officials say enrollment at state community colleges is not expected to increase like last year.
Panhandle State University in Goodwell is expected to lead all colleges in the state with a jump in enrollment of about 18%.
Panhandle State President David Bryant says a new 144-unit student apartment comples is already full and dormitories are approaching capacity.
Bryant says the university has also been stepping up recruiting efforts. About half of Panhandle's students come from Texas, Colorado, Kansas and New Mexico.
