LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ The Nebraska football team practiced in half-pads for 2 1/2 hours inside Memorial Stadium Thursday.

Coach Bill Callahan said he is pleased with the team's hard work over the first four days of fall workouts.

``Our guys have worked extremely hard. It's good to see the attitude and the work ethic are still there and that we continue to make strides,'' Callahan said.

After practicing for two days in half-pads, the Cornhuskers will don full pads Friday, which will allow the team to go through exercises that could otherwise hurt them.

``We have a chance to get into some isolated scrimmage situations where we don't beat up the team, but get some work in necessary areas,'' Callahan said.

Callahan said Thursday's workout was held inside Memorial Stadium because recent rains have left the grass outside soft.

``I didn't want to go out there and chance any pulls,'' Callahan said.

The Huskers will continue fall camp with a practice on Friday and two on Saturday.
