OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Heavy overnight and early morning thunderstorms have knocked down trees and left thousands without power, primarily in central Oklahoma.

The rain may have contributed to the death of a woman in an auto accident in Tulsa.

Police say the woman was hit by a van when she got out of her car after hydroplaning and crashing on I-244 during a heavy rain storm.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric reports more than 10,500 customers without power in the Oklahoma City metro area.

More than 3,800 of those in the dark are in the Guthrie area and about 1,700 more are without power in Oklahoma City.
