Claremore residents are learning more about plans to relocate State Highway 88.
State Highway 88 stretches through Rogers County and into downtown Claremore. The state is considering three proposed route changes as a way to alleviate traffic congestion.
The state transportation department held a public meeting Tuesday night in Claremore. A two week public comment period is underway.
Some folks say they do not want the highway changed. Claremore resident Ed Barstow: "I don't believe a four lane highway is necessary. I think improvements to the roads that we have now. Widen them. Put shoulders on them. Highway 66, put shoulders on it. Widen the bridges. That's what we need."
The state is taking public input until August 24th. A new route could be selected by January.
