SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) -- A Creek County man is heading to prison after pleading guilty Monday to first-degree rape.

Billy Jack Shelton was sentenced to 30 years in prison -- with 10 years suspended -- for the December 2003 rape of an Oakhurst woman.

Shelton will be required to serve 85% of his sentence before he's eligible for parole.

Creek County officials say Shelton was scheduled to begin a jury trial Monday, but entered the plea after learning the results of a DNA test implicated him in the crime.
