It's a chance for millions of Americans to take back their neighborhoods. Many people turned out for national night out Tuesday night.
It's an event designed to unite citizens against crime. A Broken Arrow neighborhood was just one of many where families gathered. Not only did they get to share with one another, they also got a greater sense of community. Broken Arrow Police say these events are a crime fighting tool.
Broken Arrow Police Captain Cary Aud: "If you're out of town or at work and you’ve got neighbors that know you and know your schedule it gives them an opportunity to watch your house or your kids and vice versa."
A recent crime survey shows 95% of Broken Arrow residents feel safe in their community.
