Families are always looking for a fun place to cool off during the hot summer months. There’s a popular water park in Muskogee that's making a big splash called River Country Family Waterpark. News on 6 reporter Patrina Adger takes us there.
“We want to go swimming!" Kids can hardly wait for the gates to open at River Country Family Water Park. And who could blame them. The city-owned swimming hole has a beach-type atmosphere equipped with water slides, and river rides these kids were eager to jump into. "The slides and the lazy river!'
The park has been open for four years and attracts more than 800 visitors a day. Supervisor Pedro Zardeneta says this piece of paradise nestled in the heart of Muskogee is a popular hot spot and cities across the country are following suit. “Municipalities are opening their own miniature water parks and they're great. It brings in good dollars to the city. It pays for itself and it gives the community something to be proud of."
Pedro says this is a "family" park, a park everyone can enjoy, not only kids but adults as well.
Laura Harrison is from Fort Gibson and comes to park every two weeks with her children to have a good time and cool off. “I just came off the slides. I love those slides."
So whether you sit on the side, take a dive or ride down lazy river, a good time can be had by the whole family.
