(Manhattan, Indiana-AP) -- The pilot of a small, single-engine plane headed to Tulsa, Oklahoma, had to make an emergency landing today on the median of Interstate 70 in western Indiana.

Craig Lee Carlson of Spanaway, Washington, was not injured.

The plane, a 1946 Stinson one-oh-eight, did not appear to be damaged by the landing.

Carlson says he was flying the plane about 700 feet above the ground when it suddenly developed fuel problems.

Carlson says he did not have much time to scout for a place to land.

He radioed a mayday distress call and landed on the median grass at 12:54 p-m.

The plane was not blocking any lanes and no significant traffic delays were reported.
