A national report on teacher pay shows Oklahoma's average teacher salary ranks 50th out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

According to the survey done by the American Federation of Teachers, Oklahoma's average salary for 2002-2003 was a little more than $33,200. South Dakota was the only state ranked lower than Oklahoma.

A bill to improve salaries for Oklahoma teachers passed the legislature this year.
