A judge has denied bond and set a preliminary hearing date for a Pawnee County man charged with attempted rape and murder.

Authorities say 19-year-old Quinten Daggs admitted he strangled his stepsister, 9-year-old Jesse Rogers.

Jesse's mother found her dead over the weekend with tape over her mouth and nose.
Daggs lived in a trailer behind the victim's home.

Authorities say he planned to kill his step-siblings and step-mother.

His father had recently re-married and investigators say Daggs indicated he wanted to spend more time with his dad.
