(San Diego-AP) -- David Wells tossed six shutout innings before suffering an injury in San Diego's 7-to-1 win over Kansas City.
Wells scattered four hits and struck out seven while walking none. But he had to leave the game after fouling a ball off his lower right leg in the sixth inning.
The Padres also lost first baseman Phil Nevin to a possible cartilage tear in his right knee. Nevin was injured in the fourth inning and was to be examined Sunday night.
Humberto Quintero had two hits and two R-B-I's as the Padres completed a three-game sweep of the Royals. Jeff Cirillo and Ryan Klesko each had two hits and scored twice.
Mike Wood was charged with three earned runs and seven hits in five-plus innings. He's 1-and-1.
Ken Harvey homered in the ninth to end the Padres' shutout bid.
