(Durham-AP) -- Two reports this morning say the Los Angeles Lakers have offered their vacant coaching job to Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski.
The Los Angeles Times and ESPN reported that Krzyzewski was offered the job.
Lakers spokesman John Black had no comment when asked earlier by The Associated Press.
Krzyzewski met with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak yesterday to discuss the NBA team's coaching vacancy.
Krzyzewski has turned Duke into a basketball powerhouse and built a legacy as one of college basketball's greatest coaches over 24 years as the top Blue Devil.
Former Houston Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich has been considered the front-runner to succeed former coach Phil Jackson.
Former Lakers coach Pat Riley issued a statement saying he wasn't a candidate.
