A Bixby girl is being called a hero after she made a quick decision that saved her family's lives.
Monica Burke was driving her 10 year old Kyrsten Matlock to Bible school when Monica had a seizure. They were driving down a busy street when Monica started choking, turned blue and passed out.
They jumped a curb and almost hit a tree and with her baby brother and sister in the back seat, Kyrsten says she had to act fast. "I reached over and I hit the brakes and then I realized I had my seatbelt was on. I hit the thing and I hit the emergency brake."
Kyrsten’s mother Monica: “I'd go into tears every time I thought about it just thanking the Lord he gave her the presence of mind to know what to do."
Monica says it was the first time she "ever" had a seizure. She's thankful her daughter was there to save not only her life but her siblings, too.
Kyrsten says she knew what to do because she watches a lot of CSI.
