(Guymon-AP) -- The Oklahoma Wheat Commission says recent rain has slowed the wheat harvest in northern Oklahoma and the Panhandle, but about 85% of the process is completed.

Wheat commission executive director Mark Hodges says about 155 million bushels of wheat will be harvested this year. That's about average for Oklahoma.

Hodges says he's pleased with the quality of wheat for most of the state, but the delays in northern Oklahoma and the Panhandle have hurt the test weight and quality in those parts.

The quantity in the Panhandle is also below average.

Hodges says Panhandle fields that normally would produce 80 to 90 bushels are instead yielding 40 to 50 bushels.
