(Springdale, Arkansas-AP) -- Workers at a Tyson Foods plant in Ponca City have agreed to a new contract with the company.
Springdale, Arkansas-based Tyson says the 55-month agreement ratified by workers this week covers employees at its processed meats plant in Ponca City. The new contract with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1000 takes effect immediately.
Plant general manager Dave Corsair says the agreement provides an increase in pay and improvements in benefits.
The plant's base production wage will eventually increase to 10 dollars, 25-cents an hour, and its top production pay will increase to 11 dollars, 25-cents an hour, according to a company news release.
The Ponca City plant employs almost 600 people, including 500 represented by Local 1000.
