The International Route 66 Festival is underway in Tulsa

The city of Tulsa officially kicked off the International Route 66 Festival Thursday. Mayor Bill LaFortune welcomed visitors to town and invited them to join in all the festivities in Tulsa this weekend.

The mayor also thanked all the folks who helped make the festival possible. Route 66 documentarian Michael Wallis told the crowd how special it was to have this international event in Tulsa.

The Route 66 festival is bringing thousands of enthusiasts and collectors to the city, including a special display at the Alexandre Hogue Gallery at 5th and College.

The International Route 66 Festival will be in town all weekend in Tulsa's Brady Village district.
