(Holdenville-AP) -- Authorities have called off the search for a man who reportedly fired shots at an Allen police officer during a traffic stop in Hughes County.
Hughes County officials say William Rockey is still at large.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol sent a tactical team to assist with the search, and vehicles from at least six counties set up a perimeter around the wooded area where the man was believed to be hiding.
Rockey is believed to have shot at a police officer during a traffic stop Saturday afternoon near Gerty.
Police say the man ran into the woods near town carrying a handgun with a scope.
The officer was not injured.
Rockey is described as 6 feet tall with a medium build. He has gray hair and no known tattoos. He also is to be considered armed and dangerous.
