Oklahomans paid tribute at special ceremonies across the state. In Muskogee, Oklahoma's only submarine the USS Batfish received special recognition.

This was a unique way for Oklahomans to remember those who died in service to our country. 52 submarines were lost during World War II.

The USS Batfish and her crew sank three enemy subs and 11 other enemy ships earning them a number of honors.
