(Oklahoma City-AP) -- The number of calls to AAA Oklahoma from motorists who've run out of gas is rising along with the price of gas.

AAA spokesman Chuck Mai says there were 677 calls in April from motorists who had run out of gas. That's up from 447 in April last year and from 407 in April 2002.

Mai says AAA has been called 519 times during the first three weeks of May to deliver gas to stranded motorists.

The average price of self-serve regular in Oklahoma is now $1.91 per gallon. The average nationwide is just more than $2.02 per gallon.
