Summer always brings with it a big increase in traffic accidents. So Oklahoma area police departments are sending a message to anyone behind the wheel.
Broken Arrow Police Sgt Ed Ferguson: "We're here today to tell motorists the warning period is over. Starting Monday, law enforcement across the state will be actively enforcing restraint laws.â€
It’s part of a nationwide crackdown on seatbelt use. The Click it or Ticket program kicks off this coming Monday. “Beginning May 24th through June 6th, motorists will see a substantial increase in seatbelt tickets across the state and across the nation."
Officers say they'll be keeping an even closer eye on SUV's and pickup trucks.
