A recent near-kidnapping at a store parking lot in Tulsa may have you wondering how to respond if you were in that situation.

Personal safety experts say the odds are against you surviving if a kidnapper takes you from one location to another. Your goal should be to stay in that public place.

Personal safety expert Angie Moore: "Sometimes just sit down, give them your full weight and scream, whatever it is that's causing someone to hear you."

If you're forced into a vehicle, experts say do whatever you can to draw attention to yourself. They even suggest jumping out before the car leaves the public area, because you're likely to be hurt worse wherever you're being taken.
