(Tucson, Arizona-AP) -- A man accused of rape in Oklahoma and several other states is giving up his right to a speedy trial on similar charges in Arizona.
James Allen Selby told a judge in Tucson he needs more time to prepare his defense. Selby's first trial is now set to begin September 21st in Tucson.
He's charged in Arizona with attempted murder, kidnapping, sexual assault and fraud in cases involving five women and a 13-year-old girl.
In Oklahoma, Selby's accused of abducting a 9-year-old girl from her Cleveland County home in September 1999, then taking her to nearby woods and raping her.
He faces similar charges in Nevada and California and has been convicted of rape in Colorado.
