(Midwest City-AP) -- A Midwest City man died Thursday in a fire that authorities say may have been started by an unattended cigarette.
Fire department spokesman Jerry Lojka says firefighters found the body of 32-year-old Charles Leon Foster facedown on the kitchen floor of his home.
A neighbor called the fire department after seeing flames coming from the back of the home about 2:45 AM. Lojka says the home was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.
The house was destroyed.
Lojka says the position Foster was found in showed he may have been trying to put out the fire before he died.
Lojka says investigators think Foster unintentionally started the fire by leaving a burning cigarette unattended.
