People around Green Country are cleaning up the damage from the latest round of thunderstorms to hit eastern Oklahoma.
South of Bixby, in the Liberty Mounds area, the storms packed plenty of wind. Several trees were ripped apart, power poles snapped, and barn roofs were torn off. The winds were strong enough to roll an RV trailer through a yard, over a fence and into a pasture. Storm victim Trina Evans: "We did hear the noise, the loud wind noise, loud roaring noise and know that it was getting bad. When we looked out the window it was already here, we could see the debris flying and all of sudden the trailer just went."
In Coweta, storms continued to leave behind a path of destruction. Several trees were knocked over. One business sign was destroyed and at least one homeowner's fence was damaged.
In parts of Broken Arrow, high water was the problem. While kids played, grown ups worried about their cars and property. They say they've asked the city of Broken Arrow for help for years, but haven't received any. They're frustrated, because every time it rains, it's the same old story. Resident Jade Goodson: “probably this will take about a week or so, it just depends on the weather. If it is real hot it evaporates faster. But especially if we get more rain it just keeps piling on because there's nowhere for it to drain."
Some parts of Green Country got as much as seven inches of rain. Traveling was tough on many Tulsa streets once the rain started falling. Rain fell so fast, some drivers in midtown stalled their cars trying to drive through high water.
In downtown Tulsa, drivers fared better. Still, the water on the streets got up to some bumpers. Near 11th and Utica, cars turned around to avoid high water.
