(Oklahoma City-AP) -- County sheriffs and police in the state have 304,000 gun locks to give away during the next few weeks.
The program is part of the national Project Childsafe that began in Oklahoma in 2000 when Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin's office helped coordinate distribution of 8,000 of the safety locks.
Fallin says Oklahomans who want a safety lock for their guns can get them from local law enforcement agencies until May 17th.
