The state House has approved a resolution to rename a stretch of road the "Mickey Mantle Memorial Highway."

The area is part of State Highway 282 in northeast Oklahoma. Mantle was born in Mayes County and a three-time American League MVP while playing for the New York Yankees.

Mantle is in the baseball Hall of Fame and died in 1995.
