(Tulsa-AP) -- Oklahoma State scored six of its eight runs in the first inning as the team went on to beat in-state rival Oklahoma 8-to-5 Thursday night at Drillers Stadium in the first of a three-game series.
Oklahoma went scoreless for the first three innings before driving in two runs in the fourth inning, putting the score at 6-2.
The Sooners didn't allow any runs in the fifth inning and then scored three runs to put the team within one for the lead.
The Cowboys (28-14, 11-4) drove in two runs in the sixth to take the lead. Neither team scored for the rest of the game.
Right-fielder Rod Allen homered and had five r-b-i's and one run for the Cowboys. First baseman Ole Sheldon hit a home run and drove in two runs for the Sooners.
Scott Richmond was credited with the win, throwing four strikeouts and allowing no runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Mark Roberts suffered the loss, allowing eight runs and nine hits in seven innings. He had five strikeouts.
