(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma's first lady Kim Henry has been named to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation board of directors.
This is the first time a governor's spouse has been a board member of the Oklahoma City research institution.
Henry says the foundation is recognized globally for its cutting-edge biomedical research. She says she's honored to be part of a group that helps Oklahomans and people all over the world.
Henry was an award-winning educator at Shawnee High School before becoming the first lady.
She has been involved in health-related causes such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Children's Medical Research Institute.
Governor Brad Henry's wife also has been an advocate for health care.
