A Tulsa Police officer and a suspect were hospitalized following a bizarre traffic stop in north Tulsa.

It happened when Officer Jeff Henderson tried to pull over a vehicle on North Peoria Thursday night. Police say the suspect, 38 year old Kenneth Lucas refused.

Investigators say Lucas got out of his car and got into a struggle with the officer. But Lucas left his car in reverse, and it hit both men. Tulsa Police Captain Travis Yates: “Upon our arrival the officer had been run over. He had already crawled out from beneath the vehicle and the vehicle was still on top of the suspect. TFD arrived fairly quickly and was able to move the vehicle from the suspect. Both were conscious both were speaking both were pretty bruised up.”

Both Henderson and Lucas were taken to Tulsa hospitals. Officer Henderson was treated and released. He's recovering at home.

Lucas was treated for burns, and then arrested on a DUI complaint. Records show this is his 7th DUI arrest.
