Now's the time to get in your ideas about what Tulsa County should do to develop the Arkansas River.
All five of the communities along the Arkansas River are working together to come up with a master plan for development. Monday night was the first of several community meetings to get your opinion.
News on 6 anchor Scott Thompson says the last master plan for development of The Arkansas River was written about 40 years ago. Times have changed and so has Tulsa County. Now community leaders want to update the master plan and they want your help.
The Arkansas River runs through more than 40 miles of Tulsa County, past Sand Springs, Tulsa, Jenks, Bixby and Broken Arrow. All of those communities are working together to come up with a county-wide, citizen-based plan for the future of the river.
Organizers say your opinion is really important in this brainstorming phase of the project. Gaylon Pinc, INCOG project manager: "That's where the ideas are those are the people we are the people that will use this river we might think it may attract people from outside into Tulsa but the main users are people who live in the Tulsa metro area.â€
The first meeting was held Monday evening at the Bixby Community Center.
