Police hope an early morning arrest sheds some light on some recent auto thefts.
Around 1:30 am on Monday morning, near 400 W Fairview in downtown Tulsa, police say a black Impala sped off after passing a patrol officer. The officer turned around and by the time he caught up with the vehicle, the driver had crashed the car and bailed out.
They found the man hiding nearby, and he was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Police say his arrest may lead to others.
The gutted car recovered is the personal vehicle of a Tulsa County Deputy, which had been stolen last week.
