Vinita-AP) -- State Senator Kevin Easley will make $115,000 a year to head the Grand River Dam Authority.

Easley plans to leave his Senate seat February 29th and take over with GRDA on March 1st.

He has signed a three-year contract with the dam authority. His $115,000 salary is the most allowed without the Legislature granting a raise.

Easley's selection as general manager of GRDA has been somewhat controversial. As a senator, Easley wrote legislation that reconstituted the GRDA board. Many of the new board members are his friends and political allies.

But Easley says his 20 years in the Legislature and his background in energy and marketing make him well-qualified for his new job.
