Many folks have looked to Botox to help iron out the wrinkles. But there's a new FDA approved anti-aging treatment which also doesn't require going under the knife.
News on 6 reporter Patrina Adger introduces us to "The New Botox."
39 year old Lisa Jarman is a licensed paramedical aesthetician at Skin Renewal in midtown Tulsa. For seven years, she's performed a variety of cosmetic procedures on patients who are fighting father time. After having Botox injections around her eyes, she decided to try the Restylane treatment. "I felt like my nasal labia fold was really deep throughout my face and I found my lips kind of dropping a little bit and I wanted to plump that up and give it a lift."
Restylane is a clear- injectable gel that comes in a pre-measured syringe. Unlike Botox which temporarily relaxes the underlying muscles in the skin, Restylane is used as a wrinkle filler, to plump up the skin around the nose and mouth making the lines virtually invisible.
The two can be used together and the results are immediate. "It's pretty much a dramatic improvement right away." The Restylane treatment is more expensive but it can last up to a year compared to Botox which only lasts about 4 to 6 months.
Lisa says she's happy with the results and her patients are too, there's a two year waiting list.
The cost of the procedure depends on how much syringes you will need. The cost runs about $550 per syringe. The procedure can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. Skin Renewal 2118 East 15th St Tulsa 918-293-1287 Lisa Jarman Paramedical Aesthetician
