(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Space shuttles could launch, and adventurous travelers could blast through the Earth's atmosphere.

The Oklahoma Spaceport in Burns Flat hopes to make that all happen. US congressmen Frank Lucas and Ernest Istook said Thursday they'd garnered $25,000 for the project.

The spaceport will use the money to become licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Then, the spaceport will be free to work at full capacity.

Lucas says the project could bring jobs and economic development.
