(Sallisaw-AP) -- Sentencing will be April 19th for a man convicted of killing an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.
Kenneth Barrett was convicted in Sequoyah County District Court last week of first-degree manslaughter for the 1999 shooting death of Trooper David ``Rocky'' Eales. The jury is recommending a 20-year prison sentence.
The jury also convicted Barrett of assault and battery for shooting and wounding another trooper and is recommending a 10-year sentence.
Eales was killed and the other trooper wounded while they and other troopers tried to serve a search warrant during a raid at Barrett's home near Vian.
