Two Tulsa convicts face murder charges for the 2001 shooting death of a Pawnee County sheriff.

District Attorney Larry Stuart of Osage and Pawnee counties filed the charges yesterday after a 28-month investigation. The Tulsa World reports Stuart says he has a strong case and plans to ask a jury for the death penalty.
James C. Taylor and Justin Lee Walker face first-degree murder charges for the shooting death of Sheriff Dwight Woodrell Junior.
Both men are currently serving sentences in the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester on other convictions.
Woodrell was shot to death October 13th, 2001, at the Spess Drilling Company in north central Oklahoma.
Woodrell had stopped at the company to check what he told dispatchers was suspicious activity.
