Tulsa-based Great Plains Airlines is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The carrier has also suspended all of its scheduled service, except for some occasional charter flights.

It says some other airlines are accepting Great Plains tickets if they have seats available.

Great Plains says it is "not" providing any refunds. They hope to emerge from bankruptcy in March.

It appears that most of the Great Plains staff will be temporarily laid off.
