It's a slow time of year for most food banks when it comes to donations, but Tuesday, the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma got a donation that's sure to help hundreds of hungry Oklahomans.

AEP Public Service Company of Oklahoma made a $500 contribution to the food bank in support of the Tulsa Press Club's January canned food drive. They also presented hundreds of canned goods.

Jesse Willard with the Community Food Bank: "Things get really slow for the food bank because people are focused on holiday food drive and holiday donations."

AEP-PSO, Pete Churchwell: "Particularly important this time of year. It's cold, after the Christmas holidays."

The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma serves as a center through which donated grocery items are distributed to other nonprofit organizations.
