Some Oklahoma residents say a plant is polluting their air, and they can't get any help. This battle is taking place in Ponca City.
Residents say the Department of Environmental Quality is not taking the matter seriously. At issue is the Continental Carbon Company. People who live near the plant say a black dust coming from it, coats their homes and properties. T
hey met with DEQ officials who say they can't take action because the pollution is not visible. Folks in Ponca City disagree. Concerned resident Wally Schatz: "the reason that I noticed it was I got up that morning and got out to feed my horses and 1 of my horses yawned and the tongue came out and it was just black, just solid black."
Despite the arguments and the meeting, the DEQ did not change any of its policies.
