(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Nearly nine years ago, James Monroe Ramsey was named a hero for saving people from the Murrah Building after the Oklahoma City bombing.
But Wednesday morning, he was jailed on alcohol and drug charges after escaping from police and eluding them for several hours.
When police pulled over Ramsey during traffic stop they found a bag on cocaine inside his truck and believe he threw two bags out the passenger window before he was stopped.
Sergeant Charles Phillips says Ramsey was taken to the jail but escaped.
Officers found him at his mother's house eight hours later.
He faces complaints of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute, escaping from an officer, driving under the influence and other possible charges.
He is being held without bail at the Oklahoma County Jail.
