An accident involving a Tulsa Police officer. It happened shortly before midnight on I-44.

Tulsa Police say the driver of a car broke down when her car stalled on a bridge over Harvard. She went to go get help. Moments later, another driver came up on the stalled car and tried to swerve out of the way, hitting a police car in the other lane.

Tulsa Police Captain Jim Hunter: "And the other motorist took evasive action to avoid hitting that stalled car, he struck the police car, the police car struck the bridge abutment and both cars continued on approximately you can see about a quarter mile."

The accident caused extensive damage to both vehicles. The police car even lost a wheel and tire. No one was hurt.
